June 1: Friends of the El Sobrante Library Book Sale

10-12noon, Saturday. For Members, 12-2pm for the general public. Membership is available at the door for $5.00. Visit the only bookstore in El Sobrante and see all the great bargains. You will find lots of Children, Teens, Young Adult, Mysteries, Romance, Cookbooks, Travel, Gardening, Pets, Self Help, Sci-Fi, Best Sellers, Crafts, Novels. 4191 Appian Way at the back of the library parking lot. 

 

June 1: Read to a Dog at Hercules Library

1pm, Saturday. Kids in grades 1-5 are invited to sign up for a 15-minute one-on-one reading session with a therapy pup. Bring a book from home or grab one from our shelves. Please call Hercules Library at 510-245-2420 to sign up for a 15-minute time slot. 109 Civic Dr. 

 

June 2: Richmond Rainbow Pride celebrates its 10th Anniversary of Pride Events

9:30am-3pm, Sunday. The celebration will include a parade, community booths, corporate booths, live entertainment, and DJ. Come celebrate the start of Pride Month with the Richmond Rainbow Pride 10th Anniversary Pride Event! The event will be held at the Richmond Civic Center Plaza at 2569 Nevin Ave., Richmond, CA.

 

June 5: Chess Club at Hercules Library

4:15pm, Wednesday.  The first Wednesday of each month we'll have chess games in the large conference room. We provide boards, or you can bring your own. The club will be led by a skilled teacher with 5+ years’ experience with the Berkeley Chess School, and their daughter who was CalChess State Champion Top 10-Year-Old! June 8: How to Plant a Tree, at Hercules Library

2pm, Saturday. A UC Master Gardener will teach us all about how to successfully plant a tree, from selecting the right type of tree, tree care and the benefits of trees in the landscape. 109 Civic Dr. 510-245-2420.

 

June 9: Pinole Pride & Juneteenth Celebration 

Sunday, June 9, 12-3pm. Concert in the park, food trucks and family-friendly activities. Fernandez Park, Pinole. 510-724-9000. 

 

June 10: Drive-thru Food Distribution 

9-11am, Monday. All are welcome. Quantities are limited. First come first serve. One bag of produce per household. Senior Center, 

2500 Charles Ave. Pinole. 

 

June 11: Senior Food Program 

10-11am, Tuesday. Low-income senior citizens 55+ will be able to receive free groceries, including healthy pantry staples, eggs, cheese, and assorted meats twice a month. Bring ID and proof of Pinole residency to apply. Senior Center, 2500 Charles Ave. Pinole. 

 

June 12: Coffee with the City

8-10am, Wednesday. Join City employees for coffee and casual conversation. Starbucks (next to Kaiser), Pinole Valley Road, Pinole. 

 

June 12: Max Meditation at Hercules Library

6pm, Wednesday. Thoughts racing? Feeling a little overwhelmed? Need a mid-week reprieve? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then the Max Meditation program at the Hercules Library is right for you! With the guidance of a professional healer, you'll clear your mind and gain serenity. 109 Civic Dr. 510-245-2420.

 

June 15: Summer on Solano Avenue

12noon-5pm, Saturday. A Street-Wide Pop-Up! Activities & Specials by Solano Ave. Businesses, Live Music & Entertainment. 

 

June 20: LEGO Builders Club at Hercules Library

3-5pm, Thursday. Build your own LEGO® creations at Hercules Library! LEGO® blocks encourage children to explore 3D design, creativity, and develop fine motor and social skills. We will have Duplo for small hands and classic bricks for older builders. All ages and abilities welcome. 109 Civic Dr. 510-245-2420.

 

June 23: The 2024 annual Pinole Classic Car Show

June 25: Senior Food Program

June 26: Pajama Storytime at Hercules Library

6:30pm, Wednesday. Join Hercules Library for evenings of music, rhymes, and book-centered fun: the last Wednesday of each month from 6:30-7:00pm. Stuffed animals & pajamas welcome. This event is intended for children ages 3 to 5, but all ages and abilities are welcome. 109 Civic Dr. 510-245-2420.

 

June 27: Unplugged Board Game Nights at Hercules Library

6pm, Thursday. Drop in and play board games the last Thursday of every month. Don`t worry if you don`t know how to play -- we will learn together. Some modern and classic board games will be available, but feel free to bring some of your own. This program is intended for adults. 109 Civic Dr. 510-245-2420.

 

June 29: Garden in a Mug at Hercules Library

1-3pm, Saturday. Learn about the benefits of raising drought tolerant and fire preventative succulent plants! Then create your own mini garden using multiple types of succulents in repurposed mugs. Explore the creative ways to raise succulents, soil types to use, how to drill holes for proper drainage, and low maintenance care.
