April 12: Kindergarten Countdown: Self-Help and Fine Motor Skills!

11-11:30am, Friday. Join the Hercules Library for a workshop to help your children learn and practice skills that will help them get ready for kindergarten. This month we will focus on Self-Help and Fine Motor Skills! Kindergarten Countdown workshops feature hands-on activities that will reinforce the highlighted skills, and participants will receive a calendar of other activity ideas for continued practice. April 13: Collage Poetry Workshop 

12-2pm, Saturday. Come celebrate creativity in the community by exploring the art of found and made poetry. We will use magazines and newspapers to create collages and cross-out poems. 12pm-3pm, Saturday. Local churches present our free Gospel Outreach to the public (no sign-up needed). Pastors will be preaching the Gospel and volunteers will provide FREE Food, Children Activities, Music, Prayer and More! Fun for the whole family! 9:30-2pm, Saturday. Cleanup from 9:30 to Noon. Sign in for equipment and choose a location. APRIL 20: AAUW West Contra Costa Branch — Sarah Bradford from Contra Costa CASA 

10am, Saturday. The program starts at 10:30am. Sarah Bradford of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Contra Costa is their Recruitment, Outreach and Tutor Coordinator. 10-5pm on Saturday and Noon-4pm on Sunday. Members of the Friends of the Hercules Library can enter one hour early at 9am on Saturday for the best selection. Join at the door! April 24: Mindfulness Meditation - Pinole Library

4:30-5:30pm, Wednesday. Free meditation for adults led by local instructor, Wendy Beckerman. Beginners and experienced meditators welcome. Class meets in the Pinole Library meeting room at 2935 Pinole Valley Road and includes meditation, deep breathing, and gentle movement. 510-758-2741

APRIL 27: HILLTOP GARDENING WORKSHOP

9-1pm, Saturday. This FREE event is a community service sponsored by the Hilltop and Richmond Wards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in partnership with the University of California Master Gardeners program of Contra Costa County (which provides many master gardener instructors for the workshop). The first 200 attendees will each receive 5 free strawberry plant starters.
